catapult challenge

Image
Whetu Catapult Challenge The things that I used to make my catapult were rubber bands, popsicle sticks and a plastic spoon.   To make my catapult we stacked four popsicle sticks and rapped the rubber bands around it then we put sticks that were overlapping two then we put it in the middle of the first and second one then we tied the spoon to it and that my friends is how we made the CATAPULT!!! (FIRE!!!)   The most challenging part was putting the rubber bands on without snapping.  Our best results were that the catapult worked!!! By flinging the pom pom across the room.    Overall I think that it was really fun doing it with Roanne and Kiana.

Kerosene creek

Image
Kerosene Creek and Lake Tarawera 20.5.2020 Yesterday we went to kerosene creek it is a naturally heated creek with a cool 2m waterfall that if you put your back up against the water and you get a free massage. It was so fun and we got an exfoliation which made our skin so smooth. We had lunch where the pink and white terraces were buried. The Tarawera eruption happened on the 10 June 1886, unfortunately, the 8th wonder of the world (the pink and white terraces) were covered by molten lava and then buried at the bottom of Lake Tarawera.  Today you can only see the mountains with their tops blown out. I would have loved to bathe in the pink and white terraces.

Art

For my art with egg cartons, I realised that we had a small problem we didn't have any egg cartons. one thing we had a lot of during   lockdown was tin cans. I decided to upcycle  the tin cans for pens, pencils colouring in pencils to keep our homeschooling tidy  I wanted to make weird and wonderful monsters I think they all have different personalities I enjoyed thinking of different ways to paint the eyes. My favourite one is the blue one with the buck teeth and wonky eyes. They can also be used as monster s k i t t l e s . This was good fun.

pesto making

Image
During lockdown we haven't been going to the supermarket, we order online every 2nd week, and our veggie garden hasn't been giving us much lately. So we have been missing fresh green leafy veggies. one day when we were in our creek surprise we found watercress it is greeny leafy lettuce type plant that grows in freshwater. so we decided to make peppery, yummy watercress pesto . *handful of nuts (we used almonds and pumpkin seeds) *glugs of olive oil *lemon (juice and zest) *salt and pepper *big handfuls of watercress *3 cloves of garlic (we LOVE garlic) blend ALL in a blender   Then my fav part... eating this with my homemade crackers

Surprise!!! it's a new pet

Image
The best part of the book was at the end when Peter opened the box that had his pet in it. I was thinking that I would love to get a new pet in a box as a  surprise . So we found an old pillow, some material, buttons and stuffing out of Dads overstuffed pillow. I liked using the sewing machine, sewing the legs. I learned that you have to tell the material where to go otherwise it goes all wibbly-wobbly,  Mum said: "Be the boss". The pet that I would like to get would be a kitten of my own. One that was all mine to take care of. I think I would be a very  caring  and  responsible  owner and would give my kitten lots of  cuddles  and  love . she would sleep with me every night. I would and be surprised and  happy.  I would name her Petal. This video is if I got a surprise present.

Mothers day acrostic poem and poem

Image
My Mum  She's weird in a brilliant way.  She oms and meditates.  She follows no recipe but it always turns out perfect.  My mums dancing to old songs is a little bit embarrassing. Her crystals, card and chakra bowl is precious. She's a beautiful mess even when she doesn't wash her hair and has holes in her favourite clothes. If I need anything she can always find it or make it. When I hop into bed with her at night she is soft, warm and cuddly she says that I am brilliant and weird too. Here's a photo of my acrostic poem

Judy Blume the fourth grade of nothing- Chapter Challenge

Judy Blume the fourth grade of nothing   Activity's  Peter's biggest problem is he dosn't like his brother fudge taking and using his stuff, it annoying. Fudge likes winding him up, it makes peter feel angry and not heard. Not me I don’t have younger siblings I am the youngest. My big siblings are fun, they are awesome and they support and teach me things like flips and chess.  We play outside in the bush, making fires and  riding bikes. They say funny jokes and always fun  I love to play with sticks, stones and mucky play. Clay from the creak and making bread, I like the way it squishes through my fingers. The couch is good for huts.  I do not have a favourite animal but I do want to be a mix with an elephant and a giraffe because of with a long neck and a long nose I could do some things that no one could do, like reach the tallest tree. They left him alone until he got hangry until he ate on is own. Once I fell out of a tree and ended up in the h...
